The Memory Machine

Once, an enigmatic creature inhabited a desolate island, far removed from human habitation. In its solitary state, the creature assumed the form of a mere blob of slime; however, upon contact, it effortlessly adopted the shape of whatever touched it. The island had gained notoriety for peculiar incidents involving planes narrowly avoiding the creation of an unusual, sticky flying contraption. One day, while the slime, in its spherical form, gazed sadly at the distant stars overhead, contemplating its isolated existence lacking dreams and imagination, its sole companion, a peculiar microchip named Chip, kept it company. Suddenly, a plane crash-landed directly onto the slime's face, propelling it into the sky through the force of its abilities. Fortunately still in the form of an airplane, the slime flew a considerable distance before unintentionally nosediving into a factory with a squelch. Chip managed to break free, tumbling into the factory through a vent, with the slime following suit. Unknown to them, their descent led them directly into a mysterious machine!

As they heard the sounds of turning gears, they were filled with fright. Just then, a rock fell from above, landing on the slime! It transformed, managing to escape onto the roof, leaving Chip to get crushed by the gears. The machine shook and rumbled. It caught the attention of all the workers in the factory. It then started changing color and appearance, finally shapeshifting into a small memory capsule. As small a USB converter, it held the memories of eight billion people around the world! But who knew if it would land into the right hands?
